Mitt Romney on ObamaCare on 9 September: here.
Mitt Romney on ObamaCare on 10 September: here.
Yeah, she seems like a real sweetheart. A great role model for my daughter.
You know, one thing you can say for the Democrats though is that they’re at least a loyal bunch. A Republican says something out of line, a la Rep. Akin, somehow the crowned heads of the Republican Party demand he resign. Democrats double down and let their idiots speak at the DNC.
By the by, what the hell?!
Never thought those words’d pass my lips. Now hold on while I go put some soap in my mouth.
Now all my Democrat friends have sat back and enjoyed my railing against Romney. So stop your whining and take your licks.
I went through and watched Barry, Michelle, Bill, and even the charming Miss Sandra Fluke regale us with the depth of their thinking. Watching Michelle speak I was amazed at the fact that she was clearly the least offensive person in the building. Every person in that building looked sick and pathetic. I saw small people. No confusion for sure, while my spirit screams that the country’d be better off if we just decided to glass the building, they are all people worthy of dignity owed to all humans.
The words I kept hearing over and again is the idea of “shared” opportunity/hardship/profit; that, “We are all in this together!” Hardly. I saw a room of parasites. Not a person in that room actually would be required to share a thing. Why? Because they aren’t producers. Their sick, parasitic attitude disallows the potential for success. In other words, they have NOTHING TO SHARE. But they’ll cheer along when someone talks about how the other guy needs to share. So long as it’s couched in a manner as to protect their self-image they can pretend they’re not simple parasites. I know of a libertarian or two along the same lines, thinking that if they only scream Ayn Rand quotes loud enough it’ll take away from the fact that they are parasites as well. Honestly, what exactly does Miss Fluke have to share? She apparently cannot even pay for her own birth control. Yes, I’m quite certain a woman who graduated from Cornell with a degree in Feminist, Gender, & Sexuality Studies, and is angry because Congress won’t listen to her demands that they FORCE SOMEONE ELSE TO DO SOMETHING has something of value to “share” with society. Yeah, real producer there.
What is wrong with your party when you actually give an audience to SANDRA FLUKE?! Miss Fluke’s great claim to fame is that she was justifiably disallowed from speaking about mandating insurance companies provide contraception. Apparently she should have been allowed to speak on the matter even though she failed to follow proper protocol simply because she has a vagina. This is a common theme amongst Democrats. Anyone should be allowed to speak at any time anywhere. To be denied a platform on which to speak, whether it is Code Pink interrupting a congressional hearing, a person standing up and bogarting everyone else’s time at a townhall meeting, or Ms. Fluke not being allowed to speak is actually evil Republican censorship. But, as per all you political cheerleaders out there, you decide to make hay with it and accuse this of being an attack on <insert group here>.
Michelle actually gave a pretty decent speech. My only complaint is in the general “us v. them” attitude she took. “You don’t close the door of opportunity behind you – you leave it open!” Really Michelle? Do you honestly think that Democrats are just desperately trying to keep that door open against a Republican onslaught to shut it?
Clinton did a pretty decent job, though riddled with the same “us v. them” attitude and dishonest number play. He reinforced the same foolish concern for making sure everyone gets into college, because what we really need is even more Sandra Flukes. You want to rescue this country from the brink? Maybe take a moment and listen to Mike Rowe. There’s a man with a plan. It was Mike Rowe who so accurately said that we talk about millions of ‘shovel ready’ jobs for a society that doesn’t encourage people to pick up a shovel”. Why then the title of this post? Well, the man did say one thing right: Republicans sit around and talk all day about cutting taxes (something I agree with) but they never follow it up with the promised spending cuts.
The bottom line is that you’re all idiots, include you Ron Paul groupies who speak of your independence but get sucked into the personality cult of Paul or Rand. Look, if you cheered during the national convention of either party, go take a look in the mirror at yourself; you’re an idiot. I occasionally feel the desire to scream, “Hooray for our side!” I understand the comfort in the groupthink. But use your head dammit, if you feel the need to yell in unison with thousands of other people for a sense of community, GO TO A FOOTBALL GAME. Get it out of your system there.
…this is why I don’t buy your flavor of religion.
The money quote: “Democracy without respect for individual rights sucks. It’s just ganging up against the weird kid, and I’m always the weird kid.”
Also, went to the rodeo today with the girlfriend. Bull riding = about the manliest sport on earth.
…Semper Fidelis LCpl. Terwiske.
I played plumber, lawyer, and mechanic.
I was tasked with a case that’ll become 4th Amendment precedent for Idaho. I fixed a toilet. I got a new windshield after 8 years. I fixed broken sway bar links and a leaky fuel filter canister. I took my beautiful girlfriend to the drive-in theater to see Brave and The Avengers.
Not too shabby. Here’s some Thrice:
…it seems Col. Cooper’s words bear repeating, “Let us reflect upon the fact that a man who covers his face shows reason to be ashamed of what he is doing. A man who takes it upon himself to shed blood while concealing his identity is a revolting perversion of the warrior ethic. It has long been my conviction that a masked man with a gun is a target. I see no reason to change that view.”

…then you’re the kind of person that buys a lap dance at a strip club and comes back to your buddies saying, “Man, that stripper REALLY liked me!”
The next 20 or so seconds of this clip summarizes the entire acceptance speech. Exactly how long do you suppose Romney’s handlers had him work on that in front of a mirror? He gave us this look for a good 20 minutes. Did anyone actually buy that?
Now I’m not going to go over the entire speech because I can’t put myself through it a second time. But I couldn’t help but laugh at his blatant pandering to women, which was clearly ordered by his handlers. Or maybe the multiple times he said, “When we voted for Obama 4 years ago…” Really? How many people in that room voted for Obama 4 years ago? How many people who took the time out of their day to listen to this creepy bastard speak voted for Obama 4 years ago?
By the way, were you to put a gun to my head I’d vote Romney over Obama. If I were in a battleground state there’d be a good chance I’d vote for Obama. That isn’t to say I like Romney (I think I’ve made that pretty clear at this point), but rather that I don’t want either of these two getting a second term. Second term Obama is scary. I’d hate to see either or these men when they no longer feel they need to behave in a way to get them reelected.
Regardless, if you want to see a right proper acceptance speech, look no further:
While pouring through some random criminal cases for my own pleasure I found some pretty neat stuff:
The Exclusionary Rule: Under the 4th Amendment when a gov’t agent gathers evidence illegally, that evidence cannot be used against you in court. However, there is an exception to this rule. If the government agent made an honest mistake, then a good-faith exception exists and the evidence can be admitted. I’ve always thought this concept was silly; you either have a right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure or you don’t. Mistakes should have no part in it. Well, Idaho agrees. Under Idaho’s equivalent to the 4th Amendment, Article I, Section 17, there is no good faith exception to the exclusionary rule. I give you State v. Guzman, 842 P.2d 660:
the people of a state are in more real danger from a court of last resort which participates in the violation of its fundamental laws, even in order to bring a criminal to justice, than they are from the most persistent efforts of all the bootleggers at large.
Resisting Excessive Force During Arrest: Mind you, I wouldn’t want the uphill task of defending that poor sap, but in Idaho you can go ahead and resist a cop using excessive force.
Miranda: Here in the great state of Idaho, a Terry stop CAN ripen into one necessitating a Miranda warning.
Checkpoints: Unconstitutional. The money quote in State v. Henderson, 756 P.2d 1057: Perhaps the most important attribute of our way of life in Idaho is individual liberty. A citizen is free to stroll the streets, hike the mountains, and float the rivers of this state without interference from the government.
There are many more that I may get around to in the future. But suffice it to say that many of those things I got upset about during my Criminal Procedure classes and Bar Study have been remedied with greater protections than the Bill of Rights outlines here in Free Idaho(TM)
Now, some Aranda. Get some!
